Monks strap

Characterized by their elegant single or double buckle closure, monks are designed for timeless sophistication.

Men's Buckles

Single- and double-buckle shoes date back several hundred years, with the first ones appearing in the 15th century and becoming popular in European monasteries. Technically, they are very similar to derbies, with the only difference being that the laces are replaced by a buckle closure (single or double).

Today, they are synonymous with refinement and are enjoying a resurgence in popularity.

The Monk Strap: Reinvented Monastic Elegance

At first glance, the Monk Strap gives the impression of being a shoe that ardently wishes to be observed. The wearer often arouses a certain curiosity and appears as a person very attentive to details, and this is often true. With its single or double buckle, the Monk Strap is a cross between an elegant and formal shoe and a casual and comfortable one, but always refined and unique.

Yet, its origin is distant and very humble, dating back even to the Middle Ages. The Monk Strap is the evolution of the sandals that monks of the time wore in their daily activities, in prayer as in gardening: the monks of that time did not have shoes as we understand them today.

Stylistic Ascent: From Indoor Shoes to Fashion Icons

Its transformation from sandal to covered shoe happened very slowly over time, probably because, even in monastic life, it was necessary to better protect the feet from cold, water, and injuries. Today, Monk Straps enjoy renewed notoriety in a completely different context from that of the past. And, perhaps, the only feature that recalls the practical use of the past is the advantage of not having laces.

The Monk Strap is a shoe that lends itself very well to customization. It can be equipped with one or two straps, more or less spaced, or present several profiles. It is possible to combine buckles of different shapes and materials with other elements of men's attire, such as visible but discreet socks or without socks for a casual and youthful look.

Versatile for all occasions, this upper-class shoe is suitable for formal events but is also perfect with jeans for a casual look that, deep down, has a bit of the taste of elegance of yesteryear.
